Examining validating and invalidating healthcare experiences of adults with chronic pain

Many people with chronic pain report invalidation in healthcare settings. Invalidation occurs when their account of symptoms are not believed or treated seriously by healthcare professionals.

We are interested in hearing about these experiences and what people with chronic pain recommend for increasing validating care.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

  • 10-to-15-minute survey (with chance to win 1 of 3 $50 Amazon vouchers) Asking about demographic data, chronic pain, previous healthcare experiences, psychosocial functioning
  • Optional (opt-in) opportunity to participate in an online interview asking about validating and invalidating healthcare experiences (with $20 Amazon voucher reimbursement)
